Success with Volunteer Leaders
In July 2019, Chad brought ENGAGE to Hope Church in Springfield, Missouri where he trained their pastors and volunteer leaders on how to address conflict successfully. Hope’s Children’s Pastor, Mark Johnson was dramatically impacted by the training. He writes,
“Chad Slotta came to our church recently and presented his Engage conflict training course. I have been a pastor for over a decade and have had no formal training in dealing with conflict. I thought that I do an ok job at it, but find myself avoiding it a lot especially when working with unpaid volunteers that you’re afraid you may lose if you confront them about things.
On the Sunday following the training I had set up a meeting with over 40 volunteer leaders where I had initially planned to give an uplifting and inspirational talk going into the busyness of the fall. I had finished writing my talk a week earlier, when the Lord woke me early one day after the Engage Training and told me to scrap my talk and that it was time to address some issues that I left untouched for some time. I ended up completely rewriting my talk and really got down and addressed some issues that I had avoided that were really becoming a problem to the culture of the ministry.
Through many new strategies and approaches that I learned from the Engage course, I went in feeling prepared and confident that it was a good thing for everyone that I was going to address the issues. The meeting went extremely well and was very well received by the volunteers. I even had several people thanking me afterward. I didn’t see that coming. This course was instrumental in helping prepare me for that day and for future conflicts that I may face in the ministry. Thank you, Chad!”
